Enquire about Maxine Hunt - Big Black House Design

Maxine graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 1999, with a degree in Three Dimensional Design (2:1 BA Hons), and set-up workshop as a designer-maker, specialising in contemporary wood and ironwork.

Initially, when starting out as a designer-maker, her main material was wood and she specialised in producing contemporary articles including boxes, mirrors and small furniture pieces. However, not content with just working in one material she fulfilled a long standing passion for blacksmithing by enrolling for a course at Myerscough College, near Garstang.

This introduced a whole new dynamic to her work, and after learning to weld, she began to forge a new collection of work, largely gardenware, including everything from small items such as obelisks and plant supports to larger work such as sculptures, benches, gates and railings.
