The Saltbox Gallery & Workshop in Helmsley was opened by Matthew and Louise Dwyer from North Yorkshire. Matthew and Louise select hand crafted artworks for exhibitions at the gallery. Each piece of work chosen is unique and of a very high quality which makes for an exciting, rich and varied collection.

The gallery and courtyard garden houses a brilliant selection of handmade functional and sculptural metalwork pieces, stonework, ceramics, paintings, prints and textiles. Contemporary designer jewellery is on permanent display, with an ongoing changing collection including wedding and engagement rings, bangles, brooches and necklaces.

Matthew Dwyer

Blacksmith

Matthew has worked as an artist blacksmith for over twenty years, he trained in Herefordshire and was later awarded the Bronze Medal by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths. He now lives and works near Helmsley, in North Yorkshire, where he designs and makes metalwork pieces by hand.

Matthew undertakes metalwork commissions for the garden and home in domestic and architectural settings. He is able to work to your individual design requirements or alternatively can provide you with a initial design. Matthew produces a variety of pieces: gates, railings, curtain poles, wall brackets, bird feeders, weather-vanes, candlesticks, wall scones and hooks. Upon completion Matthew is able to install the work in your garden or home.

Louise Dwyer

Jeweller

Hand made rings multicoloured bands in 18ct rose, white or yellow gold- 18ct white gold ring with diamond and 9ct with topaz ring. Other variations available please call for details.

Louise has been a jeweller for the past 15 years and designs and makes jewellery at the Saltbox Workshop. Louise works in gold and silver with diamonds and other precious stones. Commissions are undertaken for individual designs from wedding bands and engagement rings to contemporary earrings, necklaces and brooches.

The rings are made to your specific requirement ie. size, finish and type and size of stone. We can select stones for you to come and view at the gallery. All the stones are conflict free. Louise encourages people to come to the gallery to discuss design ideas for specially crafted pieces, which can then be made for you by Louise at the workshop individually. Louise is able to advise on ring sizing, re-sizing, adaptation of existing jewellery pieces and repairs. Please call in for a free consultation and quotation service.
