Autumn Show, beginning 20th October
Ingebjorg Smith, painter.
Ingebjorg’s work has been described as “stunning collage landscapes of birds and animals, beautifully evocative, tactile and thoroughly magical. They have a sense of place and time that is beyond their subject, and a spirit that renders them magnetic”.
Ingebjorg was educated at the Glasgow School of Art and graduated in 1983 (BA hons, first class and MA). She worked initially as an illustrator for, among others, BBC Scotland Gaelic children’s TV, Scotland on Sunday and Canongate Press. She also lectured at the Glasgow School of Art and designed theatre posters for 7:84 ,Tag and Theatre Highland, as well as designing sets, posters and costumes for Wildcat and Hallaballoo theatre companies.
Ingebjorg took a break in the late 1980s and travelled extensively in Kenya, Asia and Australia, where she transformed her illustration skills into fine art collage paintings.
She is now situated in the Highlands of Scotland, which is a great base for her landscape/wildlife painting.
